Farm
What is a farm but a slice of eternity? In it life vibrates. The sign up to the fast-food restaurant warns you as you come in," no animals allowed."
Well, the farm has this sign up, says "animals encouraged."
You have your sheep, chirpy chickies, a goat magisterial.
Flowers will bloom, they will, when the spring's light warms us all.
The farm encourages us to be inclusive, kind, slow, thoughtful, aware. Mostly aware, that nature doesn't guide, it governs.
So we be aware of the earth's function. Its sponginess, its fecundity, its charm, its beauty, its purpose.
We know, too, the water has its domain, its majesty, its joy. Its existence for all time. Did you know the water you just drank once passed through the entrails of dynasoars? Same water. There's nothing new.
Same water, same earth, same living form we call the human, the person, the two-legged stewardess and steward of the waters, the grounds, the other animals, two and four-legged, and those with even more legs.
We are just witnesses, farmers of the gift. The gift of the farm, of nature cultivated, coaxed, implored to, prayed amid.
For a farm is love on display. Love demonstrated. So we will love one the other, as we love the so-called animal, cow, or pig. So we will love the little plant that pokes the earth in the winter greenhouse, love the stone, the clod of earth, the rain, the thunder, the smile, the blush our environment gives off constantly.
The farm is life first; then joy, order, song, dance, drama, comedy, tradition. Yes, the farm is tradition. Who we were three thousand years ago, and who we will be tomorrow.
Look, see. That the thing over there is a farm. Save it. Cherish it. Make more. There could be more. There will be more farms. More people who farm. If we will just say no to more, and..... yes to less. Fewer cars, chemical mixes, fancy this and thats. The farm is good for you, your child, your children, your neighbor's children.
The hairy animals don't mess anything up. They scratch, yawn, stare, bemuse themselves and scratch some more. They take nothing from our precious resources.
They add. They make fertilizer, make joy, make life, make laughs, make sense. The farm is your heritage made manifest, your yard, your school, your job. The farm is yours to educate and enthrall you.
Won't you come?
To enthrall you and your soul?
To teach you a future?
That is good and kind?
Come now.
You will find us in your own backyard. As address, use the following and have a beautiful day.
